Bishopโs Stortford Air Cadets have received a donation of laptops from local tech company, ITVET, as part of the Laptops for Schools scheme. The generous donation will allow cadets to complete their online classification exams helping them further their cadet careers.
Adjutant for Bishopโs Stortford Air Cadets, Jane Snook, said: โ1096 (Bishopโs Stortford) Squadron Air Cadets gratefully received several laptops donated by ITVET. Our existing laptops are at the end of their life and with fundraising activities being extremely difficult at the moment weโre truly thankful for this generosity.โ
During the lockdowns, thousands of disadvantaged children didnโt have access to IT equipment to continue learning remotely. In response to the crisis, ITVET launched their Laptops for Schools campaign to help support schools and children in need. Since November 2020, the team have been working endlessly to refurbish and distribute old laptops donated from companies that no longer have a use for them.
Schools, charities and community organisations across Hertfordshire and surrounding areas have benefited from the scheme with over 1,000 laptops donated so far.
CEO of ITVET Ltd, Richard Fountain, said: โWeโre so grateful to companies that donate their laptops to our Laptops for Schools campaign. Each donation enables us to FreePurpose more devices. We can drive value from the precious components within our devices and can double the expected life of a laptop, rather than sending them to landfills. The scheme provides digital inclusion to those who donโt have reliable access to devices for their learning.โ
If your company has unwanted laptops in working condition, please get in touch with ITVET to arrange a collection. Find out more at: https://www.itvet.co.uk/laptops-for-schools.
